Carol and her partner John Pinckney started First Ascent in 1993.She has been climbing since 1987 and has climbed extensively throughout the US, Canada and Europe. She has completed AMGA rock guide instructor programs. Carol has guided at Smith Rock, Joshua Tree, Red Rocks and Owens River Gorge.
She is a promoter of girl's and women's programs in climbing, having established successful clinics and camps in order to encourage women in climbing. Her other passion is Bikram yoga. She lists her hobbies as portrait drawing, photography and working on our web site.

She is the proud Grandma of four Grandchildren, each of whom she describes as "beautiful, intelligent, talented and amazing human beings". Macon, age 6, Tate, 4, Abby, 3 and Aaron, born on 8/18/07. They all live in the Bay Area.
Carol and John live in Redmond and also own Redpoint Climbers Supply in Terrebonne.
