Climbing since age 12, Dean is native to the foothills of Yosemite National Park. He has been guiding and instructing climbing for the past 6 years and enjoys nothing more than to share his love of the sport with those willing to learn.
Dean is known for his low pressure approach toward climbing and his ability to maintain a positive attitude. His climbing background includes a multitude of long traditional routes, first ascents of multi pitch climbs and alpine style routes in the High Sierra.

Dean has an educational background studying Outdoor Recreation Leadership, has completed the American Mountain Guides Association Top Rope Site Manager course and is a current Wilderness First Responder.
Dean lives in Sonora, CA, but comes up to Oregon each summer to guide for First Ascent. He is also one of the guides for our Smith Rock Climbing Camp for kids.
